Profile

Collette J. Kennedy was elected to a four-year term as mayor, taking the Oath of Office on January 1, 2019, after previously serving on the Borough Council.

Mayor Kennedy has been a member of the volunteer Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) since 2012, currently serving as a Team Leader. The Mayor also serves on the Keyport Unified Planning Board, Keyport Public Library Board of Trustees, and the Board of Directors of the Keyport Bayfront Business Cooperative (KBBC). She previously served on the Keyport Environmental Commission for four years.

Mayor Kennedy’s main objective is to bring transparency to the forefront in all areas of the municipal government and ensure that policies are in place to provide for efficient and effective operations to Keyport residents and businesses.

Mayor Kennedy is a double alumna of Kean University with a Bachelor’s degree in Management Science (minor in Recreation Administration) and an advanced degree in Public Administration with an Emergency Management focus area. She has also earned a certification in Human Resource Management as well as a certification in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

She has been employed in Higher Education for 20 years and previously worked in management and human resource positions in the restaurant and financial services industries.
