Janis Rega, Area Director, USDA Rural Development is an advocate for NJ rural communities and has been instrumental in bringing many partnerships and projects together. She has lived in rural communities of Warren and Morris counties for most of her adult life and understands many of the community and economic challenges in rural areas.
Jan has been employed by USDA Rural Development for close to 16 years as Business Programs Director and, currently, Area Director. Prior to joining Rural Development, she was the Director of the Small Business Development Center funded by the US Small Business Administration, the State of New Jersey and Warren County Community College. This Center served Warren, Sussex and Morris Counties. It is through this employment that she connected with USDA Rural Development to find help for farmers, businesses, and downtowns looking for financial assistance unique to rural areas.
Jan has worked in financial services and business consulting for over 30 years. Her career in financial services began with Prudential, Newark, NJ where she was employed as a Director, Investment Services, leaving this position to focus on family. During this time, she also consulted for First Hope Bank and volunteered her time to local community and business organizations including downtown revitalization efforts and chambers of commerce. Each of these experiences lead her to the position she holds today as Area Director, USDA Rural Development.
