Municipal Excess Liability Joint Insurance Fund
The Municipal Excess Liability Joint Insurance Fund is a self-insurance pool providing excess property, liability & workers’ compensation claims for local Joint Insurance Funds. Local Joint Insurance Funds provide the primary coverage for member towns, utility authority, housing authorities and fire districts totaling 598 member entities. The MEL JIF and its affiliated local JIFs are also public entities.
For over three decades, Joint Insurance Funds (JIFs) have modernized risk management for New Jersey local government.
