Steve Somogyi is the Assistant Director of the Municipal Court Services Division, located within the Administrative Office of the Courts. In this capacity, Steve’s is directly responsible for providing leadership, oversight and technical support to the more than 500 New Jersey Municipal Courts.
Steve has held various positions with the New Jersey Judiciary during his more than 31 years of State service. Early in his career, Steve worked in Municipal Court Services as an Administrative Specialist before becoming a Supervisor in the Mercer Vicinage Probation Division, where he oversaw the vicinage’s community service and probation intake units. Steve later served as the Burlington Vicinage Municipal Division Manager, where he, along with the Municipal Presiding Judge, oversaw the operations of the vicinage’s 40 municipal courts. In 2009, Steve returned to the AOC to head the Municipal Court Services Division’s Policy and Procedures Unit. Steve was promoted to his current position as Assistant Director in 2015.
Steve earned his Bachelor’s degree (magna cum laude) from Temple University in 1988, then returned to complete his Master’s degree in 1994 (go Owls!). In addition to being a New Jersey Certified Public Manager, Steve holds an Institute for Court Management Certification from the National Center for State Courts.
